The Differences Between an Air Powered Dock Leveler and Hydraulic Dock Leveler

Hydraulic dock levelers were the only alternative choice to manual levelers, or simply known as mechanical levelers in the industry. It uses a simple hydraulic circuit that consists of a pump, cylinder and valves to raise and lower the leveler platform. There are millions of hydraulic levelers in use around the world. A large number installed them as a witness of how reliable the technology is, but today it is the third most famous popular design after the mechanical and air powered dock leveler. Furthermore, hydraulic dock levelers are best suited for heavy-load applications.

Air-powered dock Levelers provides an airbag to raise and lower the loading dock levelers. The airbags in these levelers gives a little similarity to the stylish airbags found in automotive and this is how people imagine when they see the word airbag. Level airbags are created from a woven polypropylene fiber membrane, coated with a durable PVC shell. These strengthens air bladders that takes advantage of their size to move heavy loads with low-pressure air.

Unlike the hydraulic levelers, air-powered levelers provide improved simplicity. High volume, low-pressure pump inflates the air bags. It eliminates the messy hydraulic fluids using air and prevents issues with leaky seals and connections.

When it comes to powered dock levelers, both the air and hydraulic systems are capable of providing years of trouble-free operation.

Industry Serco and Kelley has installed many dock levelers and more than 135,000 and received a lot of positive feedbacks.
